GARAGE DOOR PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE
Monthly visual inspections can save a little time and money. Stand inside the garage with the garage door closed. Look over the garage door springs, cables, rollers, pulleys and mounting hardware, such as hinges, for signs of wear or damage. Keeping your garage door parts greased up will add years of seamless operation to your system. Use white lithium grease on the opener’s chain or screw, and a spray lubricant, to coat the overhead springs. Make sure the tracks on either side of the door are free from debris. Remember, your garage door makes up about one-third of the exterior of your house, so keep it fresh and clean. You can easily perform some garage door system safety and maintenance tasks yourself. If you are not comfortable performing these tests, have them performed by a trained service technician.
